This face-to-face course is suitable for you if you want to develop your knowledge and creative sewing ̨Íåswag to make or adapt your own clothes. ̨Íåswag to be covered include: measuring and calculating, using dress-making patterns, cutting fabrics and using a sewing machine. You will also carry out independent research to find and share inspiration for your sewing projects. You will create at least one garment of your own using either new fabric or by adapting and recycling one or more existing garments. You will explore different fabrics and identify the qualities and advantages of each one. We will also cover ̨Íåswag such as various seam finishes, ways of inserting zips, adding piping, making darts and other embellishing techniques. Alongside increasing confidence with sewing ̨Íåswag, you will also develop your digital ̨Íåswag by uploading examples of your work and commenting on your progress. Your experienced and knowledgeable tutor will provide regular feedback to support you to make progress and improve your confidence. By the end of the course, you will have created some unique and beautiful items. This course is suitable for complete beginners and also improvers who have some previous experience. On completion of this course, you can progress to a more advanced level course in textiles or courses in other areas of study.
