Course overview

We will cover all forms of writing – fiction, including novels, short stories and plays, also poetry, autobiography and memoirs. The aim is to help develop and channel your writing ability, whether as a hobby or for publication. We will discuss many aspects of writing, foster the use of imagination, and read your work in a constructive and friendly setting. The emphasis is on individual development. This course is suitable for improvers and beginners. All you need is an interest in developing and enjoying your writing ̨Íåswag.

Course description

We will cover all forms of writing and will be flexible in content to accommodate the needs of the group. The aim is to help develop and channel your writing ability, whether as a hobby or for publication. The emphasis is on individual development. All forms are included, notably short stories, novels, plays, feature articles, poetry, autobiography and memoirs. You will be invited to read your work and have feedback in a constructive and friendly setting. We will have discussions on many aspects, such as shaping short stories, writing poetry, creating characters and using dialogue and description to make your work alive. We will consider some excerpts from published writers to assess and learn from their ̨Íåswag. There will also be short writing projects in class. Suitable for beginners and improvers. All you need is an interest in developing and enjoying creative writing ̨Íåswag. Work in progress can be brought to the first meeting but is not essential.

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.
