This course will help students understand the culture of work in the UK. It will also help you get the ̨��swag needed for work in the UK. The course is for speakers of other languages, and it is highly recommended to complete this course before progressing on to ESOL courses. As it will build your confidence and broaden your vocabulary. This course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority.

This is a pre-employment programme delivered online that is designed to support you into work within Adult Social Care. The programme will help you to prepare for work in a care setting. The programme consists of up to three elements: GMCA Care Certificate (where you will cover the theory elements of the Care Certificate), L1 Stress Awareness and L1 Mental Health Awareness (additional accredited courses you can join if suitable). Once you have completed the course with WEA, GM Careers will place you for a working interview in a social care setting. this is designed like a working interview, to give you the opportunity to try out the working environment.

The ESOL Living and working in UK course is designed for beginners who have little or no prior knowledge of the English language. In a face-to-face, comfortable and very positive environment you will have an opportunity to improve your skill and gain confidence. This course is focused on helping students develop fundamental speaking and listening ̨��swag in English. By the end of the course, students should be able to hold simple conversations and understand basic English conversations. Indulge in the topics like : “All about me”, “Talking about your neighbourhood”, “How do you spend your weekends?” and many more.

Develop foundational writing ̨��swag with this non-accredited Pre-entry Writing course. This English course is for speakers of other languages and is a face-to-face class in a local centre. This ESOL writing course helps people who are just starting to learn English. It will help you gain confidence writing the alphabet, writing short simple sentences, and common words in English. What we will cover: - Write the letters of the alphabet in upper and lower case; write simple sentences using basic punctuation; common English words that are used in everyday situations, complete very simple applications with personal details, and write simple text messages.

This is an ESOL course for adults. You will develop basic English language ̨��swag. Before you can enrol on this course, you will need to do a ̨��swag check. This is for us to make sure you get on the right course for your level. This course is for people working at Pre-entry or Entry 1 level ESOL. Aristophanes (c.450-388 BCE) writing in the Fifth Century is regarded as the key author in Ancient Greek comedy. His plays will be studied, read and workshopped. We shall look at how his plays might be put on, and staged today. His plays often have structures similar to a sketch show and he uses many comic devices still popular with comedians today. His plays are a little rude though (sometimes very rude). We shall look at how he creates his comic characters and situations. We shall discuss the issues that he wants to write about and consider if these are still relevant to a modern audience trying to make sense of the political and social world today. Over ten weeks, two to three plays will be discussed and workshopped to appreciate the various theatrical devices that Aristophanes often uses.
