During this creative and inspiring course, you will continue to collect your artistic ideas in sketchbook form. You will be developing your ̨Íåswag in drawing, painting, collage, note taking and sticking in reference to a range of inspirational material. You will continue to generate your own personal visual language as a starting point for larger work. This course will encourage you to consider the many themes, concepts and artists that resonate with you. The Sketchbook is a useful tool for the artist to offload their many artistic ideas and influences and try out new techniques and materials. This can be used in the safe space created in the classroom or wherever you go!

Join us for this course which will review historical events, from long ago up until recent years and link them with how newspaper and magazine cartoons reflected attitudes and controversies of that time. This beginner course will primarily focus on the historical context and political impacts of their cartoons rather than the artistic techniques but through that analysis students will gain a deeper understanding of the role of political cartoons in the 20th century.

Confidence to Learn Are you currently studying? On this Confidence to Learn course, you will develop study ̨Íåswag that will help direct you to a more focused way of studying. If you have not studied for a long time, or worried about how to start an assignment, or manage your time, this is the course for you. You will have the opportunity to personalise your approach to study and learning. Over the course you will find out what works best for you. General study ̨Íåswag are not for a specific subject, they are ̨Íåswag that cover all subject areas. The study ̨Íåswag you will develop at this level will help as you go through each topic on the course. To develop your study ̨Íåswag, you will practise a variety of tasks such as time management, active listening ̨Íåswag, note taking and many more. This will help you become more confident in the way you study. Study ̨Íåswag are not just for this course, they can be used in a variety of ways, for example solving problems in everyday life and managing your time successfully and learning to remain focused on a task. This course will run alongside the main course you are studying and provide you with the tools to successfully complete your studies with confidence. The awareness of the importance of counselling for the wellbeing of individuals is increasingly recognised as a key issue for the overall health and prosperity of our society. This course will support learners to explore the basics of counselling, the nature of the profession and how ̨Íåswag in counselling can support positive interactions in the workplace. This course focuses on an understanding of the concept and practice of the main practical counselling ̨Íåswag and the theories underpinning these. The course is aimed at anyone who may be considering either a career or further learning in counselling, as well as those wanting to develop valuable helping and listening ̨Íåswag and self-awareness.

We will explore the experience of mental distress from four very different viewpoints. Each has something to offer, none has the whole story. • The Biological aims to understand what is going on in the brain and the body. It underpins the medical model. • The Psychological perspectives seek to explain our mental states in terms of our thinking, feelings and habits. It’s all in the mind. • The Social perspective shifts the focus away from the individual. It is society that needs to change. • A Spiritual perspective goes beyond our limited sense of self to seek deeper meaning in our life journey.

This 10-week course explores the life and times of Samuel Pepys, focusing on his diaries that provide an unparalleled view of 17th-century England. Through Pepys’ meticulous documentation, we will delve into the reign of Charles II, the devastation of the Great Plague and the Great Fire of London, and everyday life during the Restoration period. Including the numerous scandals at court and Pepys’s own behaviour! This course will offer insights into the personal, social, and political landscapes of the time, revealing how one man's observations can illuminate an entire era marked by dramatic events and profound changes.

During this friendly and creative course, you will continue to use your sketchbook and art practice as a starting point to develop your work. You will have the chance to gain more confidence in your unique artwork by trying out different materials and techniques to create bigger scale work. You will be able to use the creative experiments carried out in your sketchbooks and on paper to progress your art practice by using your preferred techniques and materials. The many techniques, materials, themes, concepts and artists that influence your artwork will be crystallised into more finished pieces during this course.

This course covers writing effective cover letters, creating standout CVs, and mastering interview techniques. Through practical workshops and expert guidance, you'll learn how to present yourself confidently to potential employers and increase your chances of landing the job you desire. This course will help you examine your current ̨Íåswag and qualities and how they transfer to job related tasks. You’ll need access to the internet to take this ‘Step into Work’ program as our tutors use the WEA’s digital learning portal, Canvas, to send you important information and tasks.

Join our ESOL Conversation Café at Clare House, designed to enhance your English language ̨Íåswag in a friendly and supportive environment. This weekly session provides an excellent opportunity to practice speaking, improve your vocabulary, and build confidence in conversational English. By participating in these sessions, you'll be well-prepared to advance into other ESOL courses, further enhancing your language proficiency and opening up new educational and professional opportunities.
